Cartage Agent – A carrier that performs pickup or delivery in areas that the trucking company does not service themselves. Freight is in the possession of Cartage Agent, not the trucking company. Cartage agents use their own paperwork while transporting the shipment.
Cartage is a term meaning the transportation of goods over a short distance, such as within a commercial area or town. A cartage service fee applies to this type of service because a smaller truck or van is used to deliver the goods. FreightCenter does not offer cartage services options.
Plan the delivery goods correctly so that they are delivered on time. Drive on different routes to deliver goods. Supervise load and unload of products from the trucks. Transport all fragile and heavy items carefully.
Drive and operate trucks. Follow instructions; locate and read location and road maps. Pre-inspect truck. Pick up goods and materials, verify loads for accuracy, and deliver them as instructed. Load and unload cargo.

Truck Driver Responsibilities
Plan the delivery goods correctly so that they are delivered on time.

Maintain and update the record of all deliveries.
Inspect trucks on a daily basis for cleanliness and good working conditions.

Report if there are any defects in the truck or if it requires maintenance.
Truck Driver Requirements
Verified Commercial Driver License (CDL) will be preferred.
Professional CDL training will be preferred.
Must pass the drug and alcohol test.
A clean driving record will be preferred.
Strong working knowledge of using the GPS and ability to plan routes accordingly.
Solid understanding of truck driving rules and regulations.
Ability to work for long working hours.
Ability to transport goods in all types of commercial vehicles, for example, tractor-trailer, etc.
Quick decision-making skills.
